Portsmouth, N.H., beat Pelham 9-0 in its regular-season finale Thursday to extend its national record for most consecutive wins by a high school baseball team to 79.
Portsmouth, which has won three consecutive state titles and is 16-0 this year, open the state Division II playoffs on June 2.
Quinn McCann allowed just three hits in six innings for Portsmouth in just his second start of the season. He added a home run and three RBI at the plate.
To win its fourth consecutive state championship, Portsmouth needs to add four more wins to its record streak.
