Penn State won't reveal who is leading its quarterback race

There is a leader in the Penn State quarterback race. Nobody on the Nittany Lions coaching staff will reveal who it is yet.
Rising junior Matt McGloin and Robert Bolden appeared to separate themselves from two other candidates during spring practice. Bolden started eight games as a true freshman before giving way to McGloin, who threw five interceptions in the Outback Bowl.
"We had an idea of who would start if there was a game this month," quarterbacks coach Jay Paterno told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review earlier this week, "but don`t ask me who it is, because I`m not going to tell you."
Paterno also said there could be a change in the leader during fall practice and said a decision would like come well in advance of the opener.
Added to the intrigue is Bolden's previous request to transfer from the school this winter before deciding to stay. It is possible Penn State might not announce McGloin as the leader because Bolden could then leave school.
But Paterno doesn't appear to be stressed about the situation. Instead, they are taking a positive approach to the competition.
"People ask me if it's tough having two quarterbacks who can play, and I say it's better than having two who can't play," Paterno said.
