Boise State has imposed penalties on its football program as a result of violations uncovered during an investigation of the athletic department.
The school announced Wednesday the football team will cut a total of three scholarships during the next two years and hold three fewer preseason practices this fall and in 2012.
The school revealed Tuesday the football program was found to have provided impermissible benefits to 63 incoming football players - including housing, transportation and meals - worth a total $4,934. The amount of the violations ranged from $2.34 to a maximum of $417.55 and have been reimbursed.

Chris Petersen and his coaching staff was issued a letter of education, explaining the NCAA rules the program broke from 2005 to 2008.
"We pride ourselves on doing things the right way at Boise State. As soon as we became aware that these inadvertent infractions were not in accordance with NCAA rules, we acted swiftly and without hesitation," Petersen said in a statement.
The probe also uncovered major violations in the women's tennis program and other violations in men's tennis and women's and men's track and field.
The school will go before the Committee on Infractions on June 10.
